in the sheer immensity of copper lit grey,
frost-laden shores, rhythmless vespers,
you float, through a nervelike tapestry of thought,
the slow strands of matter, coiling and twisting
spiraling into the residue of ebbing oceans,
the weight of all, now gone with the tide
who shall hold a light against the coming waves?
from a great divide of inconclusive intentions,
imploding silence, frost-induced dystrophy,
you fall apart beneath the cold pale waves,
the seams of reality wavering undone as
the flailing lights disappear into the depths
of ever-increasing pressure and collapse

through the shattered glass, dark rooms
not unlike lungs filled with leaden air
still lays the motionless unrest of men
buried yet not gone, in the grey beyond
these towers ache in ossified agony
in noxious fumes, they convulse and wither
and fall, gradually, like ghosts of olden days
their skin and core burnt and tossed away
to be altered in streams of light and time
nothing but colorless, dreamless sleep
roots clenching onto empty apartments
like bone-dry fingers reaching the heavens
no thought, no gesture, no words belong
in the afterglow of fleeing particles
there’s but the tremor of events past
whose weight still burns immediate

spines cracking under the heat of failure
scorching winds growing restless, resplendent,
in their pursuit, devouring matter in sulfuric ire.
